Robotics at Tamaki collage

Last week on Friday was the last week of tech so we stayed for a bit longer this time we got split into groups robotics PE and social science. i got put into the robotics group we got to a big hall where Mr Dunn was he split us into four groups my team mates where Sanujan Jericho. Mr Dunn thought us how to program the drone with an i pad. My team one the mars packet because we managed to program our drone to go under a table and the over the table then land on it.

The Royal family

Today we stared a little project on the royal family we got into groups of 6 my partners where CJ Dallas Joshua W and Jericho. We all did different google slides each. Some slides we collaborated and did them together, The reason the teacher told us to do this is because Prince Harry just got engaged to Meghan Markle.

summarising

Today AJ and i have completed our summarising DLO for reading. The book we are reading is called rocket shoes. Aj and i find the book very interesting and will read more of it.

Fox Adaptations

today for inquiry we were learning about how animals adapt into there habitat and how they survive the animal that me and my partner Fraidoon chose was the fox we got lots of information of lots of different sites. the information that we gathered was very useful we have the sites we used on this dlo 

Badminton

Last week was my first time playing badminton today is my second. So today is our second time playing badminton this time was a lot funner we learned some new things about badminton that I did not all ready know about. We did so much first we had to juggle with the shuttle I did some cool tricks as well. Then we had to get into pairs my pair was Cj we did good I think we bounced it back to each other our highest score was 20 i think we did really good. I like badminton I hope to play more of it.

How children learn at school

How do you think children learn at school? Maybe they learn by talking to each other and by listening  teacher or by other children's ideas. Sometimes each students always learn from their or someone else's mistake. 

Role models are a good example for children because they always need some to inspire them through their learning journey, people and kids copy of each other so they can learn more information from each other so they don't have look up websites.

Children listen to find out information then kids could copy and then they could research and find out more information. Then children can copy off them so they can learn new things.

children take risks to learn new skills and practice of of others then they do it over until they have Learnt it. Children take risks to find out other information.

How do you think children learn at school! I think children can explain there learning by listing and talking to each other, I think children learn by following role moles.

Last night was the first dance production i am the DJ it was really fun because if have my own booth i thought it was really cool and lots of people were clapping for me it was so fun i cant wait for tonight it will be such fun my mum and my sisters are coming to see me tonight it will be one of the most fun things i ever will do.

Cross Country

Last week we did a fun run witch is basically cross country i was so proud of my self but not to proud because i came fourth for the year 8 boys if only i ran a little bit further i would have come third and made it into the inter school sports but fourth is ok at least i did int come last thats for sure i think i have improved my running because last time i was second to last. I was lucky to be fourth i just bet Cj and most of the time he is normally faster then me.

this week we have been working on our scale drawing what this is its where we had to rule a smaller version of our paper that was all ready printed we make a grid on it with one center meters per square then our enlargement was 2 center meters. my design was the face of venom and spider man.

princess bride film study

today we have finished our film study on the princess bride with a DLO about opening sequins shot types and many others i chose opening sequences.

Elections results

This morning we were learning what is a Coalition and how affects the election. A Coalition is when Political parties join forces to help choose a new Prime Minister. E.g: If Winston Peters joins Labour they will win and if he joins National they will win. Today I learnt what a Coalition is.

Today at school we are celebrating read and e book day what this is its the day where people like to read e books. The book i read was injustice gods among us it is about how in an alternate dc universe the joker has stolen fear gas from scarecrow and put kryptonite dust the weakness of superman in the fear gas but to get superman to follow joker he kidnaps superman's girl friend Lois lane that is pregnant. When superman gets to joker the joker sprees the kryptonite fear gas on superman now superman sees Lois as one of his most dangerous enemy's doomsday. Then he launch's Lois into space thinking she is doomsday and kills Lois but theirs more the joker put a heart monitor connecting to a nuke under superman's city that he likes to protect the most. When her heart beat stops the nuke goes off destroying superman's city and killing Lois and his unborn child now superman bursts into jokers jail cell and plunges his fist wright through the jokers heart and kills him find out more by going to your nears library.

tamiki over drive

this afternoon we went onto the tamaki over drive it is a site were you can borrow books and read them on your computer the story i chose was mall it is about two girls that work in shops at the mall then something terrible happens in the mall. I cant wait to read more of this story. this site is really good because i can read books that most of the time i cant find.

Year 8 Day at Tamaki College

Today the year 8s went to Tamaki college to see what a day in Year 9 looked like. The first activity was maths. It was a lot of fun. We played battle ships against Mr Jones, our teacher for maths. Luckily we won the battle ship game. The next thing we did was science. Our teacher's name was Mr Stoddard. We learnt about static electricity and physics. We did experiments to help us understand. First we made water bend by rubbing a plastic tube on a piece of material and running the taps slightly. When we put the rubber tube next to the water it looked like it was bending. After our yummy lunch we had English. Our teacher this time was Mr Stevenson. We were finding visual images connections with new vocabulary. Last but not least was PE. For PE our teacher was Mr Moyes. We played turbo touch. We had 3 teams, there was non-bands team, a red team and a yellow team. I was in the non-band team but I never found out the final score or which team had the most tries. I think it was the red team but it does not matter because we all had so much fun. A big thanks to Tamaki College for showing us their awesome school and a big thanks to the teachers that taught us in the time we were there. I am looking forward to being a Year 9 student there next year!

Kate Sheppard was the leader of the suffrage movement so we made a DLO about her we had to find 4 things about her who shew was what did she do why she is famous and personalty quality's it was fun looking at the web sites we found about her sometimes we put what we already knew in there. 

M bot

today at school we made a m bot from when i won it at the google tech summit so far we have built it got the remote for it and the m bot can drive its self and we can control it with the remote the last thing we need t do with it is program it to speak we have to use scratch to do it can wait till its finished.

GEG student summit

Last week Shannon Tiava Daniel  Jeremiah and I went to a school. We got to chose what activity we wanted to do. There was a fun activity where we had to find clues to find the key to get into a suit case. Sadly we ran out of time then we went to lego robotics Daniel and Tiava and I were in a group. We also presented how to make an animation. I thought we did really well. I won a prize. The prize I won was an m-bot! It is a robot that you can play with, you can make it move, it also has recording eyes.

Women's suffrage movement

In reading we have been looking at the women's suffrage movement in New Zealand which was led by Kate Sheppard over 100 years ago. Our task was to write a 25 word summary about what the suffrage movement was about. To finish this task my group and I had to work collaboratively, talk with each other and ask questions. We learnt that Kate Sheppard and the rest of the women that were apart of the suffrage movement had a huge impact on the way New Zealand is today.

Design tech

 to day at design tech we have finished the 3D printing and we are know onto painting. My design is the bat signal and i have put my first layer of paint on next time i will put my second layer of paint on we have 4 weeks left of tech so we have plenty of time to finish my design.

Today we had to make a 25 word summery of why we need to keep moari story telling alive.We got into pairs my partner was Calvin,we had a chose to do it on paper or on our devices me and my partner chose to do it on ours devices.

yesterday and today at school my class learnt about myths and legends so my teachers Mrs Anderson and Mrs Kirkpatrick told us to make a comic strip using story board that about how maui pulled the sun down.As you can see in my story board that i did not wright sun any were or maui pulled down the sun this is showing not telling i never told you what they were doing in the comic strip but you could see what they were doing.We got into pairs, my partner Harlem helped me with this.

Term 2 reflection

This term in LS2 we did lots of diffrent things but i really liked learning about landfills and reduce reuse recycle and learning why we should do those things the other thing i loved doing food tech and designing graphics tech in food tech we made all sorts of new foods it was so cool. in designing graphics we are making clocks the cool thing is that we can chose what shape and what art work it can be i chose a the batman logo.

Today me and my partner Cj made this dlo on the six sisters for the matariki we were given questions by our teacher to answer on our dlo so we did the questions were how many sisters are there what are there name what dose you mother do for you and the other Maori legends we know of.

Dance

today at dance we were filmed doing are dance that we have been practicing for this term i think this maybe the last dance we have for this term. i also think me and my partner Harlem did great not that there is int any thing wrong with it there is like when i turned my back to the camera a lot of the other groups did that to so i know next time to do it side ways or another angle that the camera can see me in.

Today we were learning about poetry i learned that at evrey poem the rime is at the end of the sentience. there were a lot of poems to decide to blog about but i chose this one called full moon tiger its about a cat becoming a predator well thats what i think i like it because i could understand it.

Tatau DLO

Today we found out about how Samoans did their tattoos. How they did it was really painful the hallmarks thats what the people that put the tattoos were called would get these tools called au ta they would dip it in ink and then put it on the skin it is alot more painful then how they do it now.

Reuse Reuse Recycle

Me and my inquiry group are learning about reduce reuse recycle RRR for short. So we had to go off and make a DLO on Reduce Reuse Recycle. We had to put the meanings of Reduce Reuse and Recycle 

maths world

yesterday at school we did world of maths we collaborated and we let evrey one have a turn my favorite activity was the challenge were me and my team mates hat to make a giant square out of try angles we did not succeed but we were close to it. ether way it was my favorite challenge it was the most challenging maths quest i hope we some one else succeeded since we did not do it.

Today LS2 had there first session dance with Mrs Anderson we have not started dancing yet but we are working on worm up me and my partner Harlem made a sheet of our worm ups. the reason we did worm ups is because it helps our body get ready to do activities. That we did and for how many times we will do it.

Next we had to partner up with another group we did not have a group because evrey one else had there other partners so Mrs Anderson partnered us up with Te wai Aj Daniel and Calvin.Then we showed off our worm up routine. i liked Calvin and Te wais worm up and how they knew what to do and they keep up with each other.i liked this first lesson of dance Mrs Anderson did a great job of teaching us what to do especially since this is her first time in all her teaching years doing a dace lesson.

NZ landfills

 My partners and I made this DLO about landfills in New Zealand. People are littering to much. More than one million bus loads of trash gets liters at least evrey day in New Zealand. So we read some news article   about it and we wrote daown what we felt and why.

Current Events

On wendnesday me and my buddy Mathias did a current events about how china has made a desertion that at the end of 2017 ivory will not be allowed to be sold in china. If you do not know what ivory is it is elephant tusks and some times rhinoceros horns. My opinion is that we should stop killing elephants and rhinos because they could become extincted like their ancestors and its legal. Thanks for reading this i hope you learned something knew.

Tech

Today at tech we made the rest of our pie we had to make the pastry my partners helped me Te Wai and Calvin. i made some spider-man decorations on my pie Calvin made what looks like a Ben 10 watch and Te Wai made a T on his pie maby because the letter T is the start of his name. they tasted nice

Camp photo story

This is my camp picture story of what we did on day one day two day three and day four. As you can see from the photos we did a lot of cool and exiting activities. Like going to the pools and doing high ropes and archery. I hope this has made you feel like you would have if you had been at kokako loge.

Today me and my friend Tia made a Brochure. A Brochure is a book or a little magazine that involves pictures info and lots more. It is one of those little booklets you take when you leave a motel here is a example of one if you do not under stand me.

When we came back to school from camp we made a kokako infer graphic. A infer graphic is some thing that informs you about something. Our teachers decided that we would make one on the kokako new Zealand bird since we went to kokako loge for camp and because they are classified extincted until someone said that they had heard one. I did it with my friend Tia and i think we did well on gathering info.

Lyndon's big wedgie

The harness got tighter by the second. It felt like the straps were trying to stop the blood flowing in my legs. The next thing I heard was the harness belt clipping on. My heart raced a little bit faster. I knew my adventure was about to begin.

I felt myself heading towards the sky, the wind passing over my skin while my feet waved goodbye to the earth below. I heard kids screaming and cheering while I hoped the giant wedgie the harness was giving me wouldn’t get any worse. It was too late, I was already at the top. I opened my eyes, everything looked ant size!

I began my journey back down. The wedgie loosening as my legs spread apart to give the ground a big old hug. As I unclipped the harness I could feel the blood once again rushing through my legs.

Tech Term 1 2017

Today was our first day of tech 2017 term 1 it felt good to be back doing tech again it was really cool our first subject at tech is cooking today we cooked, well I am not sure what it is called but it had spaghetti bacon pineapple and cheese. To make it, first I cut the crust off the bread then we put them in muffin holders and we waited for them to be cooked they where very nice we had a good time. I cant wait till next session.
